Silveredge Facts
Company Name: The Company was founded in 1987 just before the AS/400 was introduced. The IBM internal code name for the project was “Silverlake”, a lake in Rochester Minnesota. We applied the “silver” concept to the business “edge” for technology and the theme was born!
Ownership: With two of the three shareholders being women, Silveredge is certified as a Woman's Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women's Business Development Center (WBDC) and Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
Logo: Silveredge’s logo has changed over the years. Today we use a chocolate color block as our main logo. There is a mascot of sorts which is a tech guy with a computer head and a “T”, representing IT. The tech guy is known fondly as “Buck”. This comes from Sue speaking with the graphic designer about the mascot via cell phone one day. A large male deer suddenly ran across the road and Sue exclaimed “Buck!” which the designer took to mean he had a name. And so it was.
Structure: Silveredge has three shareholders, a management team of six, and a technical team of around 40 full time consultants.
Office: We have about 5600 square feet of space in the Chicago suburbs. Visit the Office Tour section of our website for more.
Customers: Since 1987, we have touched over 200 customers, some of our first clients still doing business with us today.
Early Offices: The Company started with a spare door spanned across two file cabinets in an extra bedroom in one of the shareholders’ homes.
Our Charity: After September 11, 2001 Silveredge ceased sending out client gifts during the holiday season and provides a sizeable donation to Chicago’s Off the Street Club.
