iNext. What’s next on i?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2016

At WMCPA this week, IBM hinted that 7.3 will be announced at COMMON in April. The new release will be focused on mobile, security, and big data. Expect a high availability component as well. IBM indicates the AS/400 operating system as originally delivered doesn’t really exist as it did; the operating system has been completely modernized since then.

Friday, March 4th, 2016

Silveredge will be a sponsor and exhibitor at Common’s Spring Conference and Expo on May 15-18 in New Orleans.  The conference is expected to have over 300 sessions!  Silveredge will have representatives there to provide  information regarding our current projects involving modernization, EDI, etc.  Stop by to run your project by us for free advice as to ways to maximize your ROI.

You can visit the Common website at www.common.org for more information.  Common describes the conference as follows:

“The Annual Meeting is COMMON’s largest educational event of the year, with in-depth IBM i, AIX, and Linux-related education including all-day pre-conference workshops, open labs, and a wide variety of regular-length sessions. It is the annual meeting of the COMMON membership and the largest gathering of the Power Systems user community.

It will kick-off with the Opening Session on Sunday, May 15, 2016, followed by four full days of education. Take a look at all the Sessions and Educational Choices that will be available: Online Session Guide.  The fun and exciting Closing Reception caps things off on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Of course, as is expected from all COMMON conferences, there will be plenty of social and networking events taking place throughout the week.

Rumor has it that IBM will announce V7.3 at the event and there is something identified as “iNext” as part of the announcement.  Time will tell!

Silveredge hopes to see you there!
